A Division of White Ranch Cattle

Black Ace Angus was started in the early 70's by Babbette Harschlip, Jenny's mom, and her husband Dale when they purchased their first Purebred Angus cows from a local farmer, Sig Olson, of Mondovi, WI. Throughout the years they added a few select cows to the herd, but mostly retained heifers from their own cowherd to increase cow numbers and add consistency. In an effort to improve on the genetics of the herd, Jenny and her parents would travel the country looking for only the best herd bulls to use in their operation. It was obvious at an early age that Jenny had an eye for cattle. While traveling to the well known Schiefelbein Angus Farm in Kimball, MN, in search of their next herd bull, Jenny scanned the bull lot over and within a matter of 2 minutes pointed to the bull she wanted. It happened to be the best and most expensive bull in the lot. At the young age of 7, Jenny bought her first angus heifer from her parents for $40, Mica Ruth Ann 1 of BA, better known as "Kathaleen". Lucky for Kathaleen, Jenny had persisted on buying her. They spent hour upon hour over the next year teaching Kathaleen to lead and grooming her for show, determined to make Kathaleen a winner. The following summer, after winning her class at the county fair, Jenny told her parents, "You see, I told you she was a winner!" That was all it took for Jenny to be sure that Kathaleen was the best cow in the herd. Kathaleen has left a legacy behind at Black Ace Angus. Today, many of the purebred females in the herd descend back to the great "Kathaleen". She has left behind such great females as Black Jack Kathy F 1968, the dam to Black Ace Penny F B 904, and Black Ace Belle F B 854, both donors at White Ranch/Black Ace Angus. Black Ace Cola 024, the dam to current show champion, Black Ace Zoe, being campaigned by the Patton family of Indiana, traces back 3 generations to the immortal "Kathaleen". Her legacy will continue to be an intregal part of the genetic makeup here at Black Ace Angus. Over the years, we have added a number of elite angus females to our herd who have produced many winners for us as well as our customers. Below is just an example of the quality angus genetics we have available for our customers. Although we are small in numbers, we are deep in quality. Please feel free to contact us at any time about our Angus females, we would be happy to visit with you about them, and how they may impact your future in the Angus breed.
